Kyna, Matron of Hope and Despair, Tale-teller

Habitually manifesting as an elderly female elf, wrapped in robes and with a trailing stole about her body, Kyna is the most common of the Nine to personally manifest; being personally found in the library at the Temple of Kyna in Whitelake quietly reading on many a tranquil morning.
Patron deity of peace, stories, and cats, Kyna preaches that quiet reflection and contemplation are the balm to the despair that threads through the world like a poison; that you can always find your answer in a book, or a kind word from a friend, or a quiet moment stroking a pet.

Behind the altar in the Church of Kyna in Whitelake, a chatelaine hangs from the stone wall. It is simple and understated, missing the ostentation that might be expected of a deity's relic, but the legend holds that it was once worn from the sash of the Tale-teller herself. Hanging from it are an arrangement of objects both mundane and mystical, and each comes with its own parable that the clergy tells.
Touching the relic is forbidden, although the cats that fill her temple often knock it from its hook, causing the High Priest to need to replace it.

Holidays

On the hottest and longest day of the summer, the holy day of the church of Kyna falls - The Day of River's Blessing. On such a day, worshippers of Kyna are encouraged to go to the closest water source to their homes and spend the entire day, from dawn to dusk, relaxing within eyesight of it. Some people swim laps, some people bathe, others merely quietly sit on the banks and read or spend time with their loved ones.

From the moment the sun first rises to the moment it no longer touches the water's surface, no work is to be done, no impactful decisions made, no responsibilities shouldered, barring those that are absolutely essential; it is a day of tranquility and rest to all concerned.
