The Church of the Nine Gods

The Church of the Nine Gods is the organisation, centered in Whitelake, that worships The Nine Gods, the pantheon that has taken charge of safeguarding mortals in Terultimae.

The Church acts as the primary governing body of The Nonary Land, administering tithings across every settlement and with each specific God's worshippers running the portions of the nation that falls under the purview of their patron's domain.

Many worshippers are members of more than one of the nine sub-churches, as there is a lot of domain overlap. Each of the sub-churches has a High Priest and the nine of them together act as the current rulers of Whitelake, and by extension the entire Nonary Land.

Long ago, the peoples of Whitelake struck The Bargain With The Nine, and as part of this bargain, the Nine created a great magical working known as the Divine Aegis. This spell has lasted through the ages since, protecting mortals broadly from the evils that less benevolent deities may inflict.
