Solhom

History

Established before anybody else set foot upon the shores of Terultimae, the grand city of the Sun Elves needed no name - it simply "The City", for none came before it. Existing in what others called the Boundless Desert, but what the native Sun Elves called "The Blessed Dunes", for the longest time the city was filled with Sun Elves, living an isolationist life.

When the nearby settlement of Coastview was founded, however, the Sun Elves, for the first time in their history, found the need to demarcate their home separately from others. Naming their grand city Solhom, they marched to war, trying to push the newcomers out of their holy lands. However, it was not long before the settlers had pushed them back to the walls of their own city, and their ruler called down a vast pillar of sunlight, in what came to be known as The Sun Elf Defence.

Unfortunately, it was not to last. As part of the events in the lead-up to the Transition of Magic the sun-shield was destroyed, and the city was laid to waste - the entire city falling into the Underdark - and leaving the Underdark Rappel behind - not long afterwards.

Before its destruction, Solhom was famed for its shining terraces; a three-tiered city of gilt stone and golden buttresses. It was dominated by grand towers, spires that caught and reflected the rising sun for miles in all directions - causing the very city itself to shine like the sun.

Located, as it was, in the midst of the Blessed Dunes, Solhom was a place of endless summer. The heat was unabating, shade was fleeting at best, and it was a display of their magical prowess that kept their golden city cool and livable.
