The Transition of Magic

As part of the events surrounding Abditus's Divine Mantle being passed to The Living Eclipse, there was a six-second span of time in which all magical effects failed. Golems fell idle, magical creatures slipped into animal instinct, mythals failed - and when magic restarted again, six seconds later, which effects resumed function seemed to be determined essentially at random.
Mages from The Academy attempted to repair the damage, but the sheer insurmountability of trying to catalogue all of the magical effects that failed has been a continuous load on their resources ever since.
